TAPI. Telephony Application Program Interface (TAPI) is what
Windows 95 uses to configure modem and dialing properties for
modems. Client Access and the NS/Router does not perform any
modem configuration. However, for ASYNC connections, the
NS/Administrator does provide 'entry points' into the Windows
95 device manager for configuring the modem and dialing
properties.

ASYNC ISSUES.
1. For internal modems that allow buffering, the 'USE FIFO
BUFFERS' box should be checked. This should not be a problem
as this value is checked on by default.
2. Initialization strings needed for connection to an AS/400
are saved by the Windows 95 device manager. If other
applications that use this modem use a different initialization
string, then the Windows 95 device manager setting will need to
be changed.
3. Currently, the modem maximum speed value can only be set
from the Windows 95 device manager. If the change is made from
the NS/Administrator, the change does not appear to be saved.
We are looking in to this. At this point we're not sure if its
an NS/Administrator or Windows 95 bug.
4. For Service Pack (PTF) installation info see II09523.
5. The following list of modems were successfully used during
testing:
     IBM 7852-10 28.8k
     IBM Options 14.4k
     Hayes Optima 28.8k
     Zoom 14.4k
     IBM 7857-17 28.8k
     Hayes Accura 96+96Fax
For more information see Info Apar II10319

This is obviously not a representative list of the countless
modems available. It would be impossible to test and provide
a support statement for every modem. In general, any modem
that is recognized, configurable, and working under Windows 95
should work with Client Access for Windows 95.
Under a Multi-Vender Availability Services (MAS) contract,
SupportLine will assist with OEM modem configuration.

SDLC Issues.
1. Two IBM SDLC cards still require to hardware interrupts.
With the card installed, however, Windows 95 may only report
one IRQ in use. This is incorrect. A bus attached mouse is
still a requirement for PCs using an SDLC link.
2. The following cards were used successfully during testing:
     IBM Multiprotocol Adapter (MCA)
     IBM SDLC card (ISA)
